One of the reasons this blog came into being was to give young people a chance to orient themselves in the varied field of psychotherapies and psychiatric treatment in general. We have always avoided flaunting the defense of one theory over others in order to encourage calm reflection on the content without expiring into sterile questions of affiliation that almost always lead to aprioristic closure preventing confrontation.

Today I would like to return to a theme that we have mentioned several times on these pages, taking my cue from a serious episode, the one that occurred on the evening of January 25 in Martinengo, a town in the province of Bergamo, where Mrs. Caryl Menghetti, who had previously been subjected to a TSO (mandatory medical treatment), killed her husband with 20 stab wounds. On the morning of the same day she had been examined by the hospital psychiatrist and had been discharged.

I want to immediately reassure those who read, I have no intention of making a review of the book of General Vannacci of which so much has been spoken these days. There is an aspect that I think should be taken seriously and it is that this book, which in other times would have passed absolutely under silence, actually had a wide echo and is at the top of the sales charts. I was reading recently a report of the Ministry of the Interior on the topic of so-called “femicide,” where it states that “Homicides with female victims show an increase in 2022 (…) women victims of homicide make up 39% of the total (…) in the family/affective sphere it is shown how the percentage of female victims settles at 74% of cases (103 out of 140). It also shows how, among those killed by their partner or ex-partner, the percentage of women reaches 91%.“

I read with interest the article of the guys of February 3 that ended with 3 questions:

• • Why are women who rebel still being killed?

• • What tools can we use to change these things?

• • What is the way to achieve a breakthrough in the history of women and their freedom?

Days ago I came across an article on Repubblica on gaslighting that is defined as “psychological manipulation that during a prolonged period of time causes the victim to question the validity of their thoughts, their perception of reality or memories, and leads to confusion, loss of security and self-esteem, uncertainty of their emotions and mental health”.
