Aesop’s fable, The Frog and the Scorpion, is unfortunately still relevant after 2,500 years. It is relevant because we continue to think of human nature as violent and, above all, unchangeable. This is not the case at all, as I have tried to explain in this short video, but human beings certainly still have a long way to go to free themselves from this belief, which often forces them to be willing victims of the most sick and violent individuals.

Anyone familiar with psychotherapy work with adolescents knows perfectly well that feeling ugly is very common in boys. Boys who would have absolutely nothing to reproach themselves with regard to their aesthetic appearance. 

Today everyone agrees that we are in a period of transition. The economic differences between countries in the world have become unbearable, the economic/financial elites are running the show, trade wars, the absurd rearmament race of European countries, the environment no longer interests anyone, let alone climate migrants, the democratic state of Israel doing ethnic cleansing, and Europe is silent. In short, the West has managed to make the rest of the world hate it and doesn’t seem to realize it.
It is hard to say where we are going to end up.

Discovering new worlds

As you may have noticed for some time now, new classmates have arrived at our school from other places in the world such as Bangladesh and China. With this article, I would like to remind you how, in general, welcoming those from other places is important. Indeed, for many, moving from one place to another proves very difficult, and having the support of someone local can become crucial.

We are going through a difficult time, we went from pandemic to war in Ukraine then Palestine and a black wave is moving across Europe. But these European sovereignists, who hate immigrants and don’t give a damn about the environment, are against the war in Ukraine while democratic Europe is for it. Master father Trump, who parades handcuffed immigrants and wants to do the Gaza Riviera, is the one who is making peace in Ukraine possible while Democrat Biden was taking us one step closer to World War III.

These days I have been very impressed by the interviews that writer Paolo Cognetti has given to Repubblica and Corriere della Sera, in which he talks about the tso he suffered because of a “severe depression that developed into a bipolar syndrome with manic phases.”
The things he says are emotional, here I quote only a few passages but I suggest you read the full interviews.
He agreed to these interviews “to say publicly that nervous illnesses no longer have to be a shame to hide and that rising up begins by accepting who you really are.”

We live in a time when it is difficult to express one’s opinions without being pigeonholed into a fanbase where the norm is to insult those who do not think like you. It is enough to say that the Americans fueled the war in Ukraine to be called a Putinist or if you try to say that Netanyahu is slaughtering Palestinians in Gaza, then you are a Nazi who wants to exterminate Jews. If you ask a few questions about sexual identity, open heavens, you immediately become a reactionary homophobic fascist. Instead, I think it’s precisely at a time like this that we need to try to go to the content so that people who want to get some insight can have some food for thought.

Just two lines on a topic that has been addressed on this blog so many times. In fact, I return to the increasingly frequent episodes in which heinous murders occur but the perpetrator of these murders is a completely normal person, not delusional, not hallucinating, from a good family, always courteous to neighbors, in short, the classic decent person. We have seen thousands of such situations, they happen again and again. Just to name a few of those that have happened in the last period: “I killed her to pass the time,” the two boys who kill their peer and then go for a beer at the beach, the lady who puts her newborn babies in the ground and then continues to live normally as if nothing happened. 

It’s summer and there is a very strange weather because in the north there are thunderstorms and it’s cold while in the central south it’s terribly hot. It is as if Italy is divided, split in two just like they are trying to do with this Differentiated Autonomy law. I remember when I was a child the teacher would make a line on the blackboard and put the good guys on one side and the bad guys on the other, and I never liked that, But today I understand that shaking off two thousand years of Cain and Abel is not easy
